Imported from Arimatsu, Japan, famous for its shibori traditions dating back to the Edo period, this kit includes a full set of artisan tools for creating te-kumo (spiderweb) shibori patterns.
Shibori Hook - Te-kumo
Made in Japan from rust-resistant stainless steel, these angled hooks are a modern version of those used by shibori artisans in Arimatsu. Use these shibori hooks to create te-kumo (spiderweb) shibori patterns.
Approximately 23cm (9in) long.
Long Shibori Bobbin - Te-kumo, Bōshi, Makiage, Tesuji
Handmade and imported from Japan, these wooden bobbins are easy to pass between hands, useful for bound shibori patterns including bōshi (capped), makiage (crisscross binding), hinode (sunrise), and tesuji (hand-pleated).
Approximately 13 x 1.5cm (5 x .5in).
Cotton Shibori Thread - Binding
Imported from Japan, this 100% cotton thread is the same kind used by professional shibori artisans in Arimatsu.
